In Japan, a technician has used poly-lactic acid from plants to create green wire.
During the progress of green wire production, the carbon dioxide emission is about half of the polyethylene materials from petroleum made wire. Moreover, the new green wire is environmentally friendly and biodegradable.

According to the Japan’s “Daily News” on 16th reported, poly-lactic acid is known as environmentally friendly plastic, it is generally used in producing plastic stationery and other items like folders. However, there are still some technical questions are waiting to be solved in the future in order to produce the green wire. Firstly, the poly-lactic acid made wire would be stiffer while a bend would easily break the wire. a technician from Japan found that poly-lactic acid molecules has D-and L-type, as long as a small amount of L-type molecules added to the D-type molecules, a soft material made by poly-lactic acid can be create.

While producing the green wire, we put the copper wire through the melted poly-lactic acid, after the cooling and condensing, the production of wire is completed. However, another problem exists during this process. The condensing process of interior poly-lactic acid is slower than the outside part. If the interior and outside part was not condensed in the same time, it will cause to form an uneven thickness, the cooper wire is easier to peel. Therefore, invented a special device, it fasten the condensing of interior poly-lactic acid and at the same time, it slower the outside part of it, thereby to form a proportionate thickness of the green wire.

　　Poly-lactic acid can be used as making transparent material, therefore new technology could be also used to produce optical fiber, but the idea still meet with the unacceptable cost problem.
